League Types
There are 3 main league programming configurations:
- Individual Player
- Team Based
- Flight Based
Individual Play
- This league type does not have teams or flights and is fully functional with the basic golf league package.
- It is a highly competitive league format that matches player vs. player for points throughout the year.
- The league has the ability to track points in periods i.e. (1st half, 2nd half, ytd or even quarters)
- It has many absent player options.
- A schedule for this league would match player vs. player until all players have played every other player.
- A points leader board will show individual player point leaders in any period.
Here's how the individual play league works:
GolfLeague will create a schedule. Every player is scheduled to play every other player once without repeating.
When every player has played every other player, the schedule will start over until all play dates have been scheduled. GolfLeague then creates matches each week based on the player schedule and posts
the individual matches on the league calendar. A summary schedule is also created so that you can see the entire years schedule at a glance.
Administrators can input hole by hole data or just enter gross scores and points.
If entering hole by hole, GolfLeague can:
- Automatically calculate match points each week
- Automatically adjust handicaps
Planning for league players who are absent:
Three options are available to handle absent players for individual play leagues which we call: the "Bubble", the "Blind" and the "Automatic Points" system.
- The bubble system matches players without an opponent with another player present on that league night.
- The blind player system matches a player without an opponent against his/her own average score.
- Finally, the automatic point system gives a player without an opponent a set amount of points
In all cases, the player who is present can still compete and earn points.
Teams
Teams with Divisions or Flights:
- This league type has both teams and flights.
- This league would typically have teams divided into flights, for example:
- A, B, C, D Flights
- Men, Ladies
- Low Handicappers, High Handicappers
- A schedule would match players in flights:
- A players vs. A players of opposing team
- B players vs. B players of opposing team
- C players vs. C players of opposing team
- Leader boards will display Flight Leaders and Team Leaders.
- Team Results track team points on a team leader board
- Flight results track flight points and flight leaders
Teams without Flights:
- This league type is a team league with (team vs team) matches.
- This type does not track player stats within flights, it only tracks team stats.
- A schedule for this league will match team vs team until all teams have played each other.
- If play dates still remain, the schedule will start over until all play dates have been scheduled.
GolfLeague provides two league types for teams:
- Structured match play within teams
- This format schedules similar to teams and flights above; teams must be even.
- The player who is listed first in each team plays the player listed first in opposing teams.
- The player who was listed second in each team plays the opposing player listed second, etc. etc.
- The schedule for this league matches team vs team until all teams have played each other.
- If play dates still remain, the schedule will start over until all play dates have been scheduled.
- The team collects points based on the outcome of the matches of the team members.
- This format works well in 2 person teams where you always want the same players playing each other (example: men play men and women play women in a mixed team league)
- Points are calculated with handicaps based on the league rules.
- Team matches using the lowest single net score of team players:
- This league type is a team league with team vs team matches.
- Teams can have any number of players on a team, they do not have to be even.
- The net score from each player will be calculated on each hole.
- The program will make a team score on each hole by selecting the lowest net score of its players.
- The hole by hole team net score is matched against the opposing team net score.
- Points are awarded to the team accordingly.
Flights
Flights Only
- Net Scores Only
- Net scores with Stableford points
- Matches for points within flights
Net Scores League
This league does not play for points. It can be arranged in any number of flights and automatically sorted by handicap if desired. Here's how it works:
- You set up players in each flight, they do not have to be even.
- You can sort the flights in any way you like.
- GolfLeague can automatically sort flights by handicaps using cutoffs that you input.
- The net scores from each player will be calculated weekly.

- A net scores leader board will be posted each week.
- Handicaps are calculated and posted for all players.

Scheduled Matches within Flights:
This league type is a flight league where each flight has it's own schedule and plays head-to-head matches for points. This league type recognizes players in each flight for points and/or net scores. Flights can have any number of players, they do not have to be even.
Here's how it works:
- You will set up players in each flight.
- Each flight will have it's own schedule playing individual matches within each flight.
- GolfLeague schedules each flight so that players play every other player at least once before repeating the schedule.
- Points are tracked by flight.
- Net scores are tracked by flight.
